Ethiopia, Africa

Dear Friends and Family,

Ever since I was a little girl I have been interested in missions. For years I have prayed that the Lord would call me to serve Him overseas. I only wanted to go if it was His will and His leading, so I began to seek Him earnestly and pray for guidance. The following verses became very special to me, “Show me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day” (Psalm 25:4-5).

When I learned about a missionary family serving in Ethiopia, Africa who needed someone to care for their two boys, Josiah (6) and Caleb (4), I felt a longing in my heart to go and serve in this way. I began to pray and the Lord showed me that He was opening the door for me to serve overseas as I had wanted to for so long. And so it was that I began to make plans to go to Africa to serve the Lord. I will live with the Smith family (pictured below) and take care of their boys in the mornings while their mother attends language school and their father teaches in the mission school. My afternoons will be spent serving in various other ways with SIM, Serving In Mission.
 
As my departure date, August 25th, approaches I find my excitement building. I look forward to meeting the Smith family and getting to know them. I received the following in an email from the Smiths, “We are so excited about your coming! Thank you for being willing to come. You are certainly an answer to prayer!” So I guess there is excitement on both sides. I will be with them a month and then come home September 26th.

I write asking you to partner with me in this opportunity to serve our faithful, all-loving God. I recognize that this endeavor is something that I cannot do alone. I need the Lord and His strength every step of the way.
