End of summer classes

By Christina Farnell

Well, it's over. I just finished the final exams for the classes I've been taking this summer. After working hard all summer and spending many nights up late (sometimes until 5:00 a.m.) studying, I'm rejoicing that it's all done. I have completed 13 credit hours of linguistic courses: Phonetics, Language and Society, Phonology, and Grammar. I have learned much more that I ever thought I would about languages. Very interesting stuff...I would love to learn more. Linguistics is not what I used to think it was, and it is definitely not boring!

Aside from what I learned academically, I learned a lot personally...spiritually and emotionally. God is at work in so many ways and I'm excited to see what He is doing. I'm learning to trust Him more. I've seen His faithfulness in new ways this summer. He has been my sustainer and His mercy and grace have been unfailing, of course. He is true to His promises.

I'm looking forward to coming home tomorrow and sharing my experiences. May I encourage you to take time to reflect on the Lord's faithfulness in your life? Yes, there are things that we do not know, but can we trust Him? He knows what He is doing. He is in control. He has a plan for our good. Let's walk faithfully and just delight in knowing Him. There have been challenges this summer, but the Lord is steadfast and my sure help. There will be challenges when I get home, but I can depend on Him.

Please pray for me regarding a possible new job. I've been so busy with school that I haven't been in contact with my potential employer, but I need to get things figured out and soon because if I want the job I'm probably supposed to start on Monday.
