Most people don't realize that pumpkin carving can be taken beyond the "toothy-grin" Jack-O-Lanterns to an advanced form of art. Those that do realize this think that professional carvings require exceptional skill and expensive tools.
Matthew Farnell first became interested pumpkin carving back in 1999, when he took on the challenge of carving a "Boo-Kitty" jack-o-lantern. He noticed how easy and fun it was to create professional carvings, so now he usually carves at least one pumpkin every year - mostly advanced, shaded patterns. He wrote this book with the purpose of exposing how easy and inexpensive it is to create professional pumpkin carvings. Matthew has laid out step-by-step directions, with illustrations, describing how to carve a traditional jack-o-lantern and an advanced shaded jack-o-lantern. He's also included some information about pumpkin portraits, techniques of jack-o-lantern photography, a few free basic patterns, where to obtain advanced patterns (cartoons patterns, like those pictured on this site, are no longer available due to copyright issues), and pumpkin recipes (including how to roast the seeds).
So relax and enjoy yourself as you take the next step in pumpkin carving by downloading a copy of this amazing e-book (PDF File). Carving pumpkins really is fun. Just put some time and effort into it, and we're sure you'll be happy with the result.
Happy Carving!
| Please Note: This e-book provides information on where to obtain, advanced shaded patterns, like the cartoon jack-o-lanterns pictured on this web site. Due to copyright issues, these patterns are not able to be included right in the book. This e-book provides specific information on where to obtain these patterns, and then gives instructions and hints on how to successfully carve them. Only three basic patterns are included in the e-book itself. Happy carving!
