Our trip to Alpine Lakes Wilderness on Labor Day weekend 2002 was a great success. The fishing wasn't as good as we were expecting, but we still had a lot of fun. We took Bob McAlister, Jason McAlister, and James Puffer with us. We all had a wonderful time and some of us even want to go again!

Getting ready to begin bushwhacking after a short break. Creek Crossing - The water was really low this time compared to what it was when we tried to cross in July. Walking down the 'trail' after crossing the creek. More of the 'trail.' Resting and eating lunch at about the halfway mark.
Lower Falls Upper Falls Lake Charlie scrambling up underneath of a fallen tree. We discovered an easier route on our way back to the car. The easier trail goes up the hillside from the campground rather than continuing along the lake. Root climb.
Falls Falls - We didn't know it on the way in, but the easiest route to the lake goes straight up right beside the waterfall. Lake in the distance. A difficult place in the 'trail.' Charlie rock climbing.

Jason getting ready to fish. Suzanne getting ready to fish. We met four guys at the lake the first night, so at one point I think we had about eight or nine rubber rafts out on the water. I wonder if there has ever been that many rafts on this lake before?! James getting ready to fish. Fishing off the logjam. Scrambling up the cliff to another lake.
Fishing. It was wet, windy, and cold this day. Charlie fishing. De-flating rafts. Folding up rafts for the trip out. Matthew de-flating his raft.
