Our 2003 trip was even better than our 2002 trip. The fishing was much better, but still not as good as we're used to in Yosemite.

Packing up.
Putting the packs on at the trailhead.
Crossing a bridge made from a fallen log.
Getting ready to move out after crossing the river.
Snack time. We were having 'Peanut Butter Balls' rolled in carob powder. Yummy!
Time for trailmix!
A view of where we're going - right up that valley.
Creek crossing - super easy crossing for this time of year. Last spring we turned around because the water was so high.
Regrouping after crossing the creek. (Some people cross on that log in the background when the water is higher).
Another view of our crossing.
Still sitting by the creek after crossing.
The first major root climb after leaving the real trail.
The brush along the trail was pretty tall.
Another root climb. (There are some pretty impressive waterfalls in this area. Please see our pictures from last year to view these falls.)
More of the 'trail'.
Taking a break about half way to the lake.
Another picture of the kids taking a break.
Lake.
Lake with some falls in the background.
Filtering water for the last climb up to the lake.
Jason ready to go.
Matthew ready to go.
Suzanne's pack.
Dad, Elizabeth, and Christina ready to go.
Scrambling up by the falls (see last year's pictures of the falls).
Brooklyn and Elizabeth waiting for help before crossing the 'rock ledge.'
Charlie and David helping the kids across the 'rock ledge.'
Elizabeth crossing the 'rock ledge.'
Everyone waiting while the rest of the kids come across the 'rock ledge.'
Michael navigating another root climb.
Doctoring sore feet on the shores of the great lake.
David enjoying the view of the lake.
Climbing up the 'trail' to the lake (way worse than the other 'trail').
Charlie and Suzanne with falls in the background.
Falls.
Inflating a raft and getting ready to go fishing at the lake.
Fishing. We caught numerous brookies, but they weren't very big.
The beautiful, alpine lake. There are at least two fire rings by this lake and one campsite.
Swimming and playing in the COLD water of the lake.
Mouse in the stove! These critters cleaned up after us during the night.
A mouse by the salt.
Eating soup by candlelight.
Heading up to another lake.
A little bit of a tricky spot by the falls. We used a rope just to be safe.
Deflating the rafts after crossing the lake.
Charlie deflating his raft.
Inflating rafts at another lake.
Charlie getting ready to fish. All we got was one bite.
Suzanne.
Trolling.
Charlie and Jason. Suzanne and I were looking around by the outlet, which seems to go underground for quite a ways. We found where somebody had camped and lost part of their stove.
Climbing back down.
Charlie and Suzanne with a couple of trout.
Falls.
Falls close up.
Jason inflating his raft.
Charlie and Suzanne heading for camp.
Matthew inflating his raft.
Packing up for the trip out.
Helping Michael across the 'rock ledge.'
Walking out is hard work!
Stopping to get some fresh food and to call home to let everyone know we made it out! It was a wonderful trip.
