The Bowron Lakes are located in British Columbia, and offer a 72 mile chain of lakes, rivers, and portages. Charlie and I (Matthew) went on this trip in 1993 along with the Keto family, as well as Quentin and two of his friends. It was a great trip, although we did experience some rough weather. Charlie caught a BIG fish as you will see in the pictures and we were able to get some close up pictures of moose. We didn't see any bears, although we did see their tracks.

Camping near the beginning of the loop. Packing up the canoes. Preparing to head down the first portage. First portage. Kibbee Lake.
Charlie cooking dinner. Broken wheel on one of the canoe carts. Nice weather! Now that's a pretty big trout. Not real big, but good eating
The view up the lake. This is where we stashed our food so the bears couldn't get it. After the food was up there, we would take down the ladder. The trees holding the food stash up are covered with metal so the bears can't climb up.
Panning for gold around 11 p.m. Now that's a really big trout! Rapids - we portaged around these. Pushing canoes up a shallow creek. What a blast.
Not the greatest weather. Sailing. Cramped quarters, but at least it's shelter from the rain. We weren't very much below the snow level.
Sunshine again! Outhouses are at most of the camp sites. Somebody put some time into this. Glen snapping a picture of a moose.
Close up. Even closer - good thing it didn't decide to charge. Matthew feeding the squirrel. Most people carve a canoe paddle and leave it with their name, the date, etc. in one of the cabins. This is Quentin's paddle! He went on ahead of us.
Charlie and Matthew at one of the last cabins. Look at the reflection in the water. Feeding the critters.
I guess this is a bald eagle. Our whole party. Cool looking wooden canoes. This is where Charlie got inspired to make wooden canoes. We made it all the way!
This is some historic gold mining town. We stopped by this guy's place on the way home to get some ideas about building wooden canoes.
