If other houses or the forest near your home catches on fire and your landscaping is properly done, your home has a good chance of being missed by the fire passing through. If you do your landscaping as this site teaches you, it will not only make our home safer but it will also look much nicer.

This way if one of these trees or bushes catches on fire, the other trees and the house won't be close enough to it to catch on fire. All of your trees should be trimmed each year. All branches hanging low to the ground should be trimmed off and if the limbs hang over or are touching your home or any of the other trees they need to be trimmed back, too.

Therefore only plant small plants close to your house. Try to get plants that contain plenty of water so that they won't easily catch on fire. There are also some types of aromas that can be flammable. Avoid this type of plant. Also keep the dead leaves and things that fall from your plants cleared away. Dead leaves and pine needles and other things like these can be licked up by flames is seconds and will get any fire going faster and hotter.
Bark dust and other types of mulch are flammable. Bark dust comes from the bark of trees and is a fuel for fires. Bark dust is ground up so that it can be spread around on your flower beds and things. If you have bark dust or some other type of mulch around your home make sure you keep it wet so it doesn't burn easily. Avoid using it on walk ways and other places where rock could be used instead and look just as nice. Rock doesn't burn and therefore is much safer.
